Root Canal

What is a Root Canal?

A Root Canal is a procedure done to clean infection in the deeper parts of your teeth also knows as roots. This is not unlike a cavity filling where the dentist would mechanically and chemically rid the tooth of the infection and seal the defect with a filling. The Root Canal is similarly a restorative procedure undertaken when the deeper parts of the tooth is affected by a bacterial infection of the tooth.

But my tooth does not hurt?

Its been our experience that many times the tooth that needs this procedure are

completely asymptomatic. This is not unlike having a high blood pressure problem that has gone unnoticed for a long time. However, just because the tooth is not symptomatic at this particular time, you should not delay treatment for a later date. It is sometimes harder to anesthetize a patient in the middle of a raging toothache!

Will the procedure hurt?

Dr. Saravana takes pride in having all procedures accomplished as comfortably as possible for his patients. Its our experience that once patients loose their initial anxiety regarding the procedure they will fall asleep! Now that does not sound like a patient who is in pain does it? There are only two things bad about a Root Canal, they cost a bit and they are long procedures. If you need a Root Canal Treatment done comfortably in the Stafford, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Ashland and Northern Virginia area call our office at 540 370 8504 to schedule your appointment.

Will there be pain after the procedure?

Most patients after the procedure will get appropriate medicines to help during the post operative healing phase. Mild soreness on chewing is normal but most patients can go about their normal day to day activities. Also, we will check on you the following days to make sure you are recovering as we hope you to.
